Operatory Lights in the Contemporary Dental Practice

Lights in an operatory are some of the most important instruments used that provide needed light for procedures. Various kinds of operatory lights are provided with modern dental care, each containing features that enable them to function differently based on specific applications. Here we analyze the four primary types you could find at your dentist's office: Halogen, LED, Plasma Arc or Laser lights.

Halogen Lights:

The light these lights give is bright and intensive, probably because they work with incandescent bulbs which then reflect the mirrors from it making produce high illumination. A major benefit is that they are less expensive and offer a longer bulb life, which can lead to significant cost savings for dental professionals. But they are not all rosy as these lights can generate so much heat that it creates discomfort, for both the patients and operators. They might also lose their reflectivity over time.
